FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How many teams in each division?
There are usually between 8-12 teams in each division. Occasionally this may differ slightly with Superleagues having up to 16 teams in an extended division.

How long does each season last?
Seasons last between 11-18 weeks, depending on the number of teams involved.

How long are the matches?
Each match is allocated a 30 minute time slot.

How many players can be used in one game?
For 6-a-side leagues, 9 players may be used (6+3 subs). For 5-a-side leagues, 8 players may be used (5+3 subs).

Can we use more than 9 players during the season?
Yes, we operate a flexible squad system so you may use any amount of players - see rules for details.

What time do the matches start?
Match start times vary from league to league. Call us for details of the start times at your particular league.

Will there be promotion and relegation?
Yes. 2 teams are promoted and relegated.

Can we choose the kick off time that we play?
You can advise us of a preferred time and we will do our best to accommodate your requirements.

What do winners and runners up receive?
Winners and Runners-up receive top of the range individual trophies.

Is the league affiliated?
Yes, the league in your area will be affiliated to the Scottish Amateur Football Association.

What type of footwear can be worn?
Most astroturfs allow moulded boots (blades are not allowed) but some new facilities only allow trainers.  Call us to find out the requirements for your particular league.

What happens if our opposition doesn't turn up?
We will arrange a friendly game for you and you will be awarded a 5-0 win for that particular game.

What if a team drops out of our league?
When a team drops out of the league we will try to replace them. If this cannot be done immediately, a friendly game will be arranged for the same time.

Are shin pads compulsory?
Shin pads are compulsory. Referees are not responsible for checking shin pads, all players must wear them.

Do you supply the match ball?
Yes, top quality match balls. We supply all the necessary equipment.

Do you supply the referee?
Yes, a qualified SFA Referee will be supplied for all matches.

Is there a membership fee and how much are the games?
There is NO joining fee, affiliation fee or deposit. Games cost between £20 - 24, depending on the area.

What if I get sent off?
You will be charged a dismissal fee of £10. Serious offences will be reported to the SFA.
